T.W.I.S.T.

The Way I See Things

I was gone for a month. It was all fun and games, but my yard was a real mess when I got home. As I began to get things in order I saw my garden as a metaphor for life and growth.

To grow a beautiful, healthy garden requires sunshine AND rain, fertilizer (you know - poop), going DEEP (all the way down to the roots), and lots of PRUNING (dead-heading, cuting away, clearing out). So it must go, to grow a beautiful, healthy woman of strength and excellence.

Practice Extreme Self Care

The Clutter! Energy! Sex! Summer Coaching group had a great call with Dr. Lynda Johnson this week. We learned about creating reserves in the places we are depleted. One way to build reserves is by practicing Extreme Self Care - giving yourself a treat you might consider a luxury. Things like weekly manicures or massages, long hot baths - ALONE, no kids allowed in the bathroom! Time to exercise, meditate, read a good book. In short, whatever relaxes, rejuvenates, and feeds your soul.

Since I am the Queen of Self Care, I do not consider these things luxuries, but rather necessities. And you should too. You work hard, people depend on you, and your energy and attitude determine the tone of your home. Are you taking care of yourself? If not, what stands in your way? No time? Do those things seem frivolous, selfish, or overly indulgent? Share your thoughts. If your answer is yes, let us know what your favorite self care activity is.
